Radiologist-in-Training

If I had known I could get the images from my CT scan on CD, I never would have bothered poring over my films. This CD even comes with an application that lets you zoom in, measure the length of items in millimeters, and change the “Window” setting (which seems to be like a “zoom” feature that provides more differential between similar shades of gray). Another advantage is that these images are so much clearer on disc.

See the large oval blob in the upper right of the image below? That’s a 14.4 x 9.7 cm slice of my fibroid. Now I see why the radiologist described it as “heterogeneous,” as I can finally see slight variations in color. See how the fibroid reaches almost all the way back to the spine? BTW, this picture represents a slice through my torso parallel to my waist. The top of the picture ([A] stands for anterior) is near my belly button, and the bottom ([P] stands for posterior) is near my butt. I believe the bright white stuff in the lower half of the picture are bone (spinal and pelvic).

Now here’s a slightly lower slice of my fibroid using the “Liver Window” setting. This setting really brings out the fibroid’s dark area, as well as its white spots.
